10 Most Influential Women's Wrestlers Of All Time, Ranked

Women's wrestling has evolved by leaps and bounds, in large part thanks to the influence these performers have had on the business.

UPDATE: 2024/07/13 17:30 EST BY ETHAN SCHLABAUGH

WWE's women's division has been on fire for quite some time now. Names like Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY carried the division through 2023 and a handful of different names have been emerging to take their spots in 2024. While the main roster women have been killing it like normal, the NXT roster has been some of the most impressive in modern-day wrestling. Roxanne Perez and Kelani Jordan manage to rule the developmental side of things with news of emerging talent making their way soon. With such a massive list of names to look at, here is a run down on some of the best women on the WWE roster and what they have been up to in 2024.

19 Dakota Kai Is Gunning For Singles Success

Does Amazing Work When Given The Chance

  • Dealt with an ACL injury that kept her away from the ring for some time.
  • Came back to participate in the Damage CTRL storyline at WrestleMania.
  • Has been fighting to get her first singles opportunity at a premium live event.

After returning to the WWE at SummerSlam 2022 alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky, Dakota Kai quickly became a vital asset to the WWE women's tag division. Kai and Iyo started the year as champions and both participated in the Royal Rumble, with Kai earning five eliminations. Whether being a face or heel, Kai has proven herself on the mic and fans are already into her as far as in-ring skill goes.

Kai would finally return from her injury and quickly reinserted herself in a huge storyline as she turned on Bayley, siding with the other members of Damage CTRL. Kai has been working toward getting her first singles chance on a PLE as she failed to win the Queen of the Ring tournament and lost her Money in the Bank qualifying match.

18 Zelina Vega Has Been Stuck In The LWO Story

Has Potential To Do Much More In The Company

  • Constantly seems to be pulled back into whatever story is going on with the LWO.
  • Often gets throw-away shots at championship gold for no reason.
  • Needs storylines outside of her faction.

2023 was a stand-out year for Zelina Vega, getting the chance to be in featured matches and feuds more than she ever has been. Two years ago, Zelina became the first-ever Queen of the Ring, and at the start of 2022, she captured her first championship in WWE when Carmella and herself won the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.

Last year she has really shown what she can do as an underdog babyface. Zelina got the chance to represent Puerto Rico during the Backlash event, wrestling against Rhea Ripley. Vega and the rest of the Latino World Order have also been given a massive amount of screen time, really helping Vega have a second coming on the WWE roster. A story not revolving around the LWO could do wonders for Zelina.

17 Shayna Baszler Has Amazing Matches Outside The WWE

Had A Fun Program With Lola Vice In NXT

  • Has been able to compete in outside WWE events such as Josh Barnett's Bloodsport.
  • Had a fun program with Lola Vice in NXT, ending with an Underground match.
  • Is forming a new faction alongside Zoey Stark and Sonya Deville.

Last year saw Baszler do quite a bit of work alongside Ronda Rousey in the women's tag team division before that partnership ended with a lackluster SummerSlam match between the two. Getting the win over the former champion didn't do a whole lot for Shayna as she floated around the women's division.

13 Best Women's Matches In WWE History, Ranked

There's plethora of outstanding WWE women's wrestling matches that are in the conversation for being the greatest of all time.

It would be her time spent back in NXT working alongside Lola Vice that got fans talking about Baszler once again. Add on top of that, WWE's willingness to work with outside promotions, which saw Shayna Baszler face TNA's Masha Slamovich at Josh Barnett's Bloodsport, an event she is returning to and facing Miyu Yamashita.

16 Chelsea Green Has Been Winning Over The Crowd

The Combination Of Her Character Work And Daring Stunts

  • Has been working with Piper Niven in a solid tag team.
  • Made a special appearance on NXT, challenging Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women's Championship.
  • Became the highlight of the Women's Money in the Bank match for her performance.

Despite not having the best overall record since arriving at the main roster, Chelsea Green has been able to make the best of it with her outstanding character work. Her tag team with Piper Niven saw her capture the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships for 126 days before dropping them to Katana Chance and Kayden Carter.

Her recent matches taking place around the Money in the Bank event saw Green get some much-deserved attention. First, by securing her spot in the titular ladder match against Bianca Belair and Michin, it would be her performance at the show that saw Green fall out of the ring from the top of a ladder onto a pair of tables that got fans finally talking about her.

15 Asuka & Kairi Sane Have Been Stuck In The Same Routine

Both Found Tag Team Success But Not Much Else

  • Beat Kayden Carter and Katana Chance to recapture the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships.
  • Lost the belts to Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair at Backlash France.
  • Asuka suffered an injury, leaving Kairi Sane to team with Dakota Kai and work as a singles wrestler.

Asuka and Kairi Sane are easily some of the most talented wrestlers on the WWE roster, it just seems that they often don't have much going on for them. It was a great moment to see Asuka join Damage CTRL and team with IYO SKY and Kairi Sane, but their run at the top of the card ended rather quickly.

The two held the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships once again and managed to make a few successful defenses before dropping the belts at Backlash France. Since then, Asuka has suffered an injury and Kairi Sane has been floating around.

14 Rhea Ripley Seeks Revenge Against Liv Morgan

Fans Are Waiting To See What Happens With Her And Dominik

  • Had a dominant reign as the Women's World Champion.
  • Had to vacate her title due to injury.
  • Recently made a return on Raw to confront Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio.

Continuing her dominant reign as the Women's World Champion, Rhea Ripley was able to have a couple of defenses to start the year at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 40. Sadly, an injury caused her to vacate her belt after WrestleMania.

After missing a few months, Ripley has since returned and is kicking off her feud with Liv Morgan which was penciled in before her injury. Whatever is to come of the situation between the two of them and Dominik Mysterio is quite exciting.

13 Lola Vice Pushed Herself Near The Top Of Her Division

Fans Have Become Infatuated With Her

  • Started the year by challenging for the NXT Women's Championship.
  • Had a string of fun Underground matches against Natalya and Shayna Baszler.
  • Continued to challenge for the NXT Women's Championship in a great match at NXT Heatwave.

Just making her on-screen debut in 2023, Lola Vice was able to rise to the top rather quickly as she entered the NXT Women's Breakout Tournament alongside names like Kelani Jordan and Karmen Petrovic. Vice was able to secure the victory against Jordan at Halloween Havoc and secured herself a championship match whenever she pleased. Vice attempted to intervene in a match between Lyra Valkyria and Roxanne Perez, but Lola wasn't able to capture any gold that night.

Vice took a break away from the title scene and started a partnership turned rivalry with Shayna Bazler, culminating in an Underground match at NXT Battleground. That win gave her another chance at gold against Perez at NXT Heatwave, but once more Vice wasn't able to get the win.

12 Nia Jax Has Shown Improvement Since Her WWE Return

Earned The Queen Of The Ring Crown

  • Nia Jax's mic work has been much stronger since her return
  • She defeated Becky Lynch in the best match of her career
  • Won the Queen of the Ring tournament, earning a Women's Championship match.

There were some groans when Nia Jax returned to WWE in September, but it is hard to deny that she has been great since returning. Jax has felt like a very real threat, her matches have been far better, and her character work feels more fine-tuned.

Perhaps Jax was someone else who needed some time away to then re-find herself upon returning, like many others, such as Cody Rhodes, Jinder Mahal, and Drew McIntyre. It can be seen that WWE does have a spot for her as she beat Lyra Valkryia in the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament, thus granting her a title match at SummerSlam this year.

11 Becky Lynch Is On A Hiatus

Had A Stellar Start To The Year

  • Became number one contender for the Women's World Championship at Elimination Chamber.
  • Captured the belt after Rhea Ripley was forced to vacate the title.
  • Is since taking some time away from the ring.

The year started pretty well for Becky Lynch as she earned herself a title match against Rhea Ripley at WrestleMania 40. Despite losing, she would capture the title shortly after the event as Ripley was forced to vacate her belt.

Her title win led to a feud against Liv Morgan, who was able to take the title away from Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring. After losing the title, contract issues arose and Lynch decided not to re-sign with the WWE, instead taking some time away from the ring. Her status with the company is up in the air at the moment, but as she still appears on the WWE roster page, she qualifies for this.

10 Naomi Continues To GLOW In Her Performances

Has Been Focused On Championship Gold Since Returning

  • Returned to the WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble.
  • Worked with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill to face Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 40.
  • Has since been gunning for the WWE Women's Championship.

Naomi made a shocking return to the WWE at the 2024 Royal Rumble after having an amazing run as the TNA Knockouts Champion in TNA. Signing to SmackDown after the show, Naomi quickly was put into a feud against Damage CTRL while she teamed with Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill for a match at WrestleMania 40.

After that story was finished, Naomi immediately started going after the WWE Women's Championship, getting a title match at Backlash France. Naomi tried once more to earn a title opportunity when she competed in the Money in the Bank match, having some stand out moments, but failing to capture the briefcase.

9 Lyra Valkyria Quickly Became A Big Deal On The Main Roster

Got Real Close To Winning The Queen Of The Ring Tournament

  • Was drafted to Raw from NXT during the 2024 Draft.
  • Made it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament, before losing to Nia Jax.
  • Competed in the Money in the Bank ladder match, but with no success.

Lyra Valkyria became a star in NXT due to her reign as the NXT Women's Champion. Luckily, that didn't slow down when she was called up to the main roster. Being drafted to Monday Night Raw, Valkyria immediately started earning huge wins over names like Dakota Kai, IYO SKY, and Kairi Sane before making it to the finals of the Queen of the Ring tournament.

A loss there meant Lyra needed to find another way to challenge for WWE gold, which saw her earn a spot in the Money in the Bank ladder match.

8 Kelani Jordan Became The Inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion

Has Had Some Great Matches As Champ

  • Won a six-woman tag match at NXT Stand & Deliver in April.
  • Became the inaugural NXT Women's North American Champion at NXT Battleground.
  • Has had a couple of successful defenses on NXT.

Kelani Jordan would sign a WWE contract back in 2022 with no prior wrestling experience. That didn't seem to matter, as she had a grasp on the sport rather quickly and started some fun programs with names like Dana Brooke, Kiana James, and Thea Hail.

2024 would be her breakout year, however, as she was one of the six women to compete for the newly introduced NXT Women's North American Championship at NXT Battleground. Jordan would capture the title and has since embarked on her journey as the champion, defending the titles against names like Michin and Sol Ruca.

7 Jade Cargill Is A True Superstar

Found Gold Quickly In Her WWE Career

  • Captured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships alongside Bianca Belair.
  • Had stellar showings at the 2024 Royal Rumble and WrestleMania 40.

Starting with a fantastic debut at the 2024 Royal Rumble, fans were dying to see what would come next from Jade Cargill. The answer came in the form of her, Bianca Belair, and Naomi feuding with Damage CTRL leading into WrestleMania 40, followed by a reign as the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions with Bianca Belair.

The team had a couple of successful defenses, while Belair and Cargill also attempted singles success in the Queen of the Ring tournament. They would drop the belts to Alba Fyre and Isla Dawn at Clash at the Castle: Scotland.

6 Bianca Belair Has Been Working In The Tag Division

Has Been Partnering With Jade Cargill

  • Beat Damage CTRL at WrestleMania 40 alongside Jade Cargill and Naomi.
  • Captured the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships with Cargill.
  • Starred in a reality series with Montez Ford called Love & WWE: Bianca & Montez.

Bianca Belair entered 2023 as the Raw Women's Champion, a title she won back at WrestleMania 38 against Becky Lynch. Things started with a feud against Alexa Bliss at the Royal Rumble. After retaining, Belair faced Iyo Sky at Backlash and became the longest-reigning Raw Women's Champion, surpassing Becky Lynch's reign of 398 days.

Women's wrestling has improved leaps and bounds with some talented in-ring performers, but who are the most outstanding female wrestlers to grace WWE?

Now in 2024, Belair has not been around the Women's Championship much but instead has focused on her tag team with Jade Cargill. The two have been working amazingly together and had a decent reign as the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions. Bianca has been quite busy outside the ring as well, as she and Montez Ford starred in a reality series that debuted this year.

5 Iyo Sky Remains A Top Name After Losing Her Title

Continues To Try And Find A Way To Reclaim Her Gold

  • Lost the WWE Women's Championship to Bayley at WrestleMania 40.
  • Competed in the Queen of the Ring tournament.
  • Attempted to capture the Money in the Bank briefcase for the second year in a row.

IYO SKY is a legendary name in the world of Stardom and Joshi wrestling and was given to show her credibility as a top name during her WWE Women's Championship reign. IYO used her Money in the Bank briefcase to capture the belt and scored several impressive defenses before dropping the belt at WrestleMania 40 to former Damage CTRL partner, Bayley.

Since losing the title, SKY has tried multiple times to get back to the title picture, such as by competing in the Queen of the Ring tournament and Money in the Bank ladder match. SKY has also been allowed to wrestle outside WWE by facing Utami Hayashishita at Marigold Summer Destiny.

4 Tiffany Stratton Is WWE's Resident Barbie

Captured The Money In The Bank Briefcase

  • Became a popular name during her performance in the Elimination Chamber.
  • Had a chance at the WWE Women's Championship at Backlash France.
  • Won the Money in the Bank ladder match.

After a pretty solid run in NXT that saw her become the NXT Women's Champion, Tiffany Stratton signed to SmackDown near the start of 2024. It did not take long for Stratton to become a popular name among the audience due to her performances on SmackDown and in the Elimination Chamber.

Since her debut, Stratton has been in the title picture on SmackDown, including a triple threat match with Naomi and Bayley at Backlash France. A short run in the Queen of the Ring tournament saw Stratton eliminated by Bianca Belair, but she would recover as she won the Women's Money in the Bank ladder match.

3 Roxanne Perez Is Waiting For A New Challenger

New Signings Like Giulia And Stephanie Vaquer Could Be The Match She Needs

  • Captured the NXT Women's Championship for the second time at NXT Stand & Deliver 2024.
  • Has beaten a large portion of the NXT roster and some outside talent.
  • Seems to be waiting for one of the recent WWE signings to debut and challenge her.

Roxanne Perez was flying high at the start of last year, entering as the NXT Women's Champion and competing in her first Royal Rumble match. Her reign ended at 109 days when Indi Hartwell captured the belt at NXT Stand & Deliver. Perez lost her rematch for the belt and moved into a feud against Blair Davenport, leading to a Weapons Wild match at The Great American Bash, with Roxanne emerging as the victor.

A heel turn has made her character fresh and a new reign as NXT Women's Champion has seen her run through several names, such as Lola Vice, Lyra Valkyria, and Jordynne Grace from TNA. With news of names like Giulia from Stardom and Stephanie Vaquer from CMLL arriving to WWE, Roxanne's time as champ could be in danger.

2 Bayley Has Done It All In The WWE

Her Rumble Win Etched Her Legacy Even More

  • Won the 2024 Women's Royal Rumble.
  • Captured the WWE Women's Championship from IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40.
  • Defended her title against names like Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Piper Niven.

Ever since returning from her injury in 2022, Bayley has been an entertaining character on television. Her time working in the Damage CTRL group brought out some of her best heel work. That looked to change this year as WWE is pushing Bayley once again as a top face. The face turn has worked wonders for Bayley, starting with a massive win over former partner IYO SKY at WrestleMania 40.

Now reigning as the top woman on the SmackDown roster, Bayley has had her fair share of challenges from the likes of Naomi, Tiffany Stratton, and Piper Niven. To further add to that her SummerSlam opponent has been confirmed as Nia Jax, with Stratton waiting in the background as the Money in the Bank winner.

1 Liv Morgan Has Taken Rhea Ripley's Place

Her Story With Dominik Mysterio Has Taken Over Raw

  • Has constantly taken over Raw with her storyline alongside Dominik Mysterio and Rhea Ripley.
  • Captured the Women's World Championship from Becky Lynch at King and Queen of the Ring.
  • With Rhea's recent return, fans are eager to see what the two have up their sleeves.

Liv Morgan has been killing it as the top woman on Monday Night Raw. Her return at the 2024 Royal Rumble saw her become the runner-up for the second year in a row, which helped her case when starting a feud with Rhea Ripley right after WrestleMania 40.

An injury forced Ripley out of the picture, but it became a blessing in disguise for Morgan as she'd capture the Women's World Championship not long after. Her storyline centering around her, Dominik Mysterio, and Rhea Ripley has taken center stage on Raw and now that Ripley has finally returned, the feud can fully take off.
