Really enjoyed chatting with Bristol Initiative - Business West about all things Bristol Junior Chamber (and why all young professionals in Bristol should join), my love of the city and obviously a bit of helicopter chat 🚁If you have young professionals in your team, please do drop me a message about BJC membership!

Out of all the many different events in Bristol (and we really are spoilt for choice) the Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is my absolute favourite. I love everything about it - seeing the balloons take off, watching large numbers of balloons fly over some of Bristol’s key landmarks and the famous night glow which always gives me goose bumps. Bristol Junior Chamber co-founded the Balloon Fiesta in 1979 after a conversation in the pub and then ran it for number of year. In recognition of this, every year we host a special evening in the Flight Deck which is always a calendar highlight. This year was no different and although there was no mass ascent, the night glow didn’t disappoint! As President I’m also really proud that this year BJC supported the fiesta as one of its sponsors! Huge well done to Ben Hardy and team for putting on another mega weekend!

At Bristol Junior Chamber we’re proud to be an inclusive community that celebrates diversity, inclusion and our members individuals differences. We are also keen to ensure that we continue to represent the city of Bristol and its wonderful communities as an organisation. To show our commitment to our LGBT+ community BJC members joined thousand of others and marched in the Bristol Pride Parade. The atmosphere was electric 🏳️🌈Huge thanks to Chair of EDI George Hooton for organising today and to all of the members who came out to support! And Happy Pride 🌈🩷❤️🧡💛💚🩵💙💜🤍

I don’t want to jinx it but yesterday felt like summer had finally arrived, and it was just in time for the Bristol Junior Chamber factory tour of Thatchers Cider Company Ltd. Did you know….🍎Thatchers is a five generation cider business 🍎it can produce 30,000 cans an hour🍎40 main varieties of apples are used from 200,000 trees I always love a factory tour and it doesn’t get much better than one set in the beautiful Bristol countryside on a summers evening. Thank you to Kathryn Binnie for organising and BJC alumni Martin Thatcher for supporting and allowing us to visit!

Yesterday was such a brilliant day at the Air Ambulances UK Fundraising Symposium sponsored by Sterling Lotteries. The energy in the room was amazing and proved how valuable it is to bring air ambulance fundraisers together from across the sector. Thank you to our fantastic speakers for delivering engaging (and innovative) presentations tailored to the air ambulance community! As part of the Bristol Junior Chamber Big Help Out I moonlit yesterday and volunteered at Cancer Research UK (CRUK)‘s Bristol’s Race for Life event, cheering participants on (with the help on a very loud bell and some Abba). It was such an inspirational morning, seeing families spanning generations come together to remember and celebrate their loved ones and in the process raising nearly £500,000 to fight cancer. Luckily I could blame the hayfever for my watery eyes… Thank you to Sophie Green for supporting the BJC Big Help Out and allowing us to volunteer and for Danielle Argent for organising. Same again next year Danielle Argent Ed Dench?

One of the events I was most excited about this year was the opportunity for Bristol Junior Chamber to host an election hustings! Did I expect us to be given a few short weeks to organise it? Absolutely not. Had we already started planning for an autumn election? Yes! Definitely an example of the best made plans going awry. Huge thank you and well done to the amazing working group who pulled off a brilliant event in a matter of weeks - Connor Jones Dip PFS, Aaron Sims, Kathryn Binnie, and Huw James and managed to engage and then get five parties to turn up (quite impressive when Keir Starmer was in Bristol the same evening, sadly not attending the hustings). Wonderfully Chaired by Victoria Matthews the panel debated national and local policy, Brexit, how to maintain and grow productivity as well as international trade 🗳️. Thank you to everyone who came and engaged, the candidates, to Business West and to Mercer for hosting!📣Remember to vote on the 4th July!

🚁What a week it’s been for Air Ambulances UK partnerships! The week started with Kwik-Fit (GB) Ltd’s annual Fleet Golf Day, which saw suppliers and customers of Kwik Fit come together to enjoy a great day of golfing and raise money for AAUK (the most the event has ever raised!). Friday was Briggs Equipment UK Ltd Go Karting Day at Thruxton Circuit with Kwik-Fit (GB) Ltd hosted by the legendary Árón Taylor-Smith ahead of his big racing weekend! Keith Wilson did a great job representing AAUK on the track but sadly couldn’t beat Aron! Attendees were also very lucky to be treated to a garage tour by Aron… did you know it costs over £600,000 to maintain a BTCC car over the season? There is a theme here… Sunday was my first date at the British Touring Car Championship with Kwik Fit and it didn’t disappoint (the sun even came out for the day)! We were wonderfully supported by some brilliant volunteers (huge thanks to Ageas UK) and so many people donated to receive a Kwik Fit BTCC cap they seemed to be everywhere! A massive thank you to Kwik Fit, Briggs Equipment, Ageas, Aron, the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance Air Ambulance team and all of the customers, suppliers for your support in helping air ambulance charities save lives across the U.K. ✨
